greenbaby gifts works only with manufacturers adhering to fair trade and fair labor standards, and the majority of our vendors are members of the Organic Trade Association.  All of the organic cotton goods are certified from seed to finish.  In addition, all of our companies are using the most eco-friendly choices currently available for their dying process.  Better yet, some are dying the yarn before producing the fabric.  Be assured that there are no heavy metals in these dyes.  They are not necessary, as the colors can adhere to natural fibers without these additives.  This is not the case with synthetic fabrics.  More specific details about all of the products in our gift baskets can be found by scrolling down.

Here at greenbaby gifts, we too strive to conduct business in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.  From our company checks to our shipping boxes, to all of our print and packaging materials, we use only recycled and biodegradable products.  We have chosen to save space by shipping all gift sets and their contents in the most compact manner, along with the supplies necessary to put them together upon arrival, including; a beautiful handmade, tree-free paper gift bag or box, recycled tissue paper, and a gift tag.  This cuts down on shipping costs for our customers, as well as the space and fuel necessary to transport our products.  Our gift bags and boxes are made from renewable resources, and have been selected with the hope that they will find a permanent and practical place in your recipient's home, and at the very least be re-used or re-gifted.

Organic Cotton
As previously stated, all of the organic cotton items found in our gift sets are certified from seed to finish, and are colored with low-impact, fiber reactive dyes.  There are no pesticide or other chemical residues in these fabrics.  The white fabrics are whitened with peroxide, not chlorine bleach.  At this time, only a small percentage of organic cotton products are manufactured in the U.S.  Organic cotton fabric has a luxurious and durable feel, which softens with every wash.

Bamboo Fiber
Bamboo is Earth’s fastest growing, most sustainable plant.  It needs no replanting, and grows without fertilizers or pesticides.  Bamboo fabric is naturally anti-bacterial, absorbent, breathable and quick drying – making it resistant to mildew as well.  We are thrilled to report that all of the bamboo products in our sets are manufactured in the U.S.  Bamboo fabric is truly soft as silk, yet durable and unaffected by repeated washings.  greenbaby gifts declares this fabric to be the cashmere of all natural and organic fibres.

Soybean Fiber
Soybean fiber is made from the dredge, or waste, of producing tofu, soy milk, soy beans, and other products derived from the mature soybean plant.  The proteins are extracted from this waste by a process called wet-spinning, and solidified into soybean fiber. At this time, neither the soybean dredge, nor the cotton fiber used to produce the fabric - which is a 50-50 blend - is organic.  greenbaby gifts has chosen to include soybean fiber clothing in our gift sets due to the closed-loop, sustainable nature of its manufacturing process.  We believe that this cutting edge technology, which makes use of production waste, is part of a healthy future for ourselves and our planet.  While this fabric is soft and light weight, it has superior warmth retention and moisture transmission, with a silk-like drape and luster.

Organic MerinoWool
Wool is Mother Nature’s wonder fiber.  It is both insulating and breathable.  It can hold up to 30% of its weight in water before feeling wet to the touch, yet repels water like roof tiles on a house.  It is a renewable resource that is naturally flame retardant, elastic, and durable.  This fabric will last for years!  Sourced from organic farms in the Southern Alps of New Zealand, this wool is designed to shield Merino sheep against scorching summers and harsh, freezing winters.  It is a fraction of the diameter of traditional wool fiber, making it the softest, finest, and purest wool in the world – which won’t itch sensitive skin – or any other type for that matter.

Baby and Mommy Care Items
greenbaby gifts is proud to offer only 100% natural bath and body care items for both mom and baby. While this can be a tricky and sometimes misleading claim in today’s marketplace, we have carefully chosen from among many manufacturers to bring only the purest and safest in personal care to our gift sets. While we have steered clear of any products containing mineral oils, alcohol, color additives, formaldehyde, or petroleum based products, we have also chosen to err on the side of caution when it comes to controversial ingredients such as sodium lauryl and laureth sulfates, talc, cornstarch, lanolin, parabens, and synthetic fragrances. In addition, all of the bath and body care products, with the exception of the Tummy Honey line, are formulated with organic herbs and botanicals. As you can imagine, none of these products are tested on animals.
